Francehere's a thought.  my hair is getting obscenely long.  now i know what you are thinking.  you are thinking, well, go get your hair cut.  and while you are thinking that, thomas is screaming very loudly that he likes my hair really long.

granted, most men like really long hair.  there is no explanation for this.  and when asked, most men reply, "it's pretty."  this is not a response in my mind justifying long hair because, well, it isn't always pretty.  especially when the wind blows it into your mouth while you are trying to consume a starbucks tchai latte.

so my general fall malaise has turned into this malaise about my hair.  i am not extreme hair hacker where i go from one length to the next.  4 out of 5 hairdressers agree that my hair should never be cut above my chin because i have a wackadoo hair line.  but nonetheless, i want it cut and dyed.  yet.  yet.  yet.  i am poor.  reason being: we bought a house.  poverty has befallen me.

and do not suggest that i cut-eth my own-eth hair.  that is a bad idea from the start.  and the dyes in the box, don't last as long and don't look as good as the pro job.  what am i to do?

Any decent salons in the area that might have a training program? My salon has one (I don't go, stupidly) and supposedly it takes a long time, but is very precise and ultimately lovely.

I don't mean a beauty college, don't do that!

Men just don't understand blow dryers and weather. Weirdos. :)

If you just need a little trim or something, how about some silly supercuts or something?

Once my friend went to Blaine and loved it.

Or just get a little trim, with layers, to change it up a spec. Don't have them dry it and see if it's cheaper that way.

I also hate the hair in latte thing... or better yet, hair in lipgloss! COME ON!

I agree - a lot of the training schools are a good bet. The students are usually really supervised, too, so they can't screw up too much. :-)

I have actually had pretty good results with box color (Nice & Easy) because I'm poor too, but I loathe my gray hair as I am too young for that crap!

ladies, you give me hope. i am going to go to a supercuts and see what happens. worse case scenario, i lose some hair. best case scenario, i am not eating it while drinking a latte.
