you say tomato, i say tomato
ok. sorry no photo, i am on the mac and i have no photos on it since it sadmac-ed and had to be lobotomized.
so. thomas and i had a conversation recently. and i would like to know your opinion. he prefers the term dumb@ss and i prefer sh!thead. yes. it is true, this is how mature our conversation was.
t argues that dumb@ss is a much better choice because people can't be sh!t but they can be dumb. therefore, dumb@ss is a better descriptor than sh!thead. he went on to argue that he didn't understand what sh!thead meant. a head full of sh!t? a head made of sh!t??? the images went on and on.
i personally just like the way it sounds. so. how about you? dumb@ss or sh!thead?

personally, i like the term @sshat the most. but both sh!thead and dumb@ss have their merits, although i have to say that i like sh!thead precisely for its evocativeness and the endless possibilities it describes. i like dumb@ss just because i like to say @ss.
I like @sshat, too. You guys could couper la poire en deux and use the term dumbsh!t.
Just a thought...
I like dumba$$. Maybe it's all those years of watching Beavis and Butthead.
I have this thing where I spell words in my head when people talk. So whenever someone says dumbaxx, I silently pronounce the "b." Sometimes that's fun, and sometimes it's annoying. So, I guess it depends on the day.
As for shxthead, I think of the story Simon told me of someone naming her son that and pronouncing it "shi-tee-ad." And I also think about saying it "shith-head," what with that "th" in the middle and all.
In conclusion, I am a linguistic freak of nature.
leah, do you say wed-nes-day too?
alison, so diplomatic. but he and i don't work that way. ;0)
lainey, i think that is why he likes it too. he does a great hehehe impersonation.
rachel, welcome.
I have to say things like "wed-nes-day" and "Feb-roo-air-ee" because I'm an editor and that's how we make ourselves slow down enough to check spelling.
