dialing sober
technology has come so far over the past centuries. thank god i was not there to witness it all. the point is, though, that technology allows us to do all sorts of things on the spot.
for example, this is a photo of t's cell phone. it is a blackberry. it does all sorts of cool things. what those cool things are, i am not really sure because it is his phone and my phone is already enough for me to handle...
but his phone does all sorts of magical things like make phone calls. and when i manage to not have my cell phone on me, want to schedule an appointment to get my hair whacked off really short (yes, i did), i explained to him that i wanted to make the call on my cell, at home.
he handed me his phone. i started to dial the number but couldn't. he looked at me, all curious, and asked what the problem was. i didn't know the number. and he asked me what i meant. and i explained the the number in my head is spelled out in letters... his number pad resembles a keyboard, not a phone pad.
this got the biggest laugh because i could not dial a number since its letters were not associated with the right numbers. i think this is a major fault with the blackberry... my phone is far superior.

This made me chuckle, and reminded me of my kids, niece, and nephews ogling the rotary dial phone in my family's summer house.
Also, speaking of numbers as letters, it cracks me up when I see an ad for a business with, say, 555-WHAT as the number. Then in parentheses below WHAT, they have the numbers (9428, yes, I checked). Because, duh. People apparently can't figure out which letters go with which number when they look at their phone.
From now on I'm going to laugh, because the number in parentheses is obviously for the Crackberry users.
