even though my title expresses that i have a good life, there are days, that even though my life is good, it can be trying.
the only reason i sound so fuçking grim right now is because we had some weather last night. oh. the house is fine. but the dog wigged at 4 in the morning. i couldn't fall back to sleep after that until my alarm went off... at 730. at that point, the trembling, neurotic dog whose medicine did no more than act like candy was in bed with me terrified that the big bad lightening and thunder would get her.
needless to say, i woke up, having overslept, with a raging headache, no clue what to wear (if you know me at all, then you know that this is a bad place for me to be mentally), the weather sucked and parking is impossible on campus.
the blessed part of my life is that i did not have to teach my 10am class since they are in the midst of a project. but i arrived so late on campus and still felt like sh!t that i ended up canceling my 11am. i will pay for that. but today was long. i managed to get some work done, have a meeting, attend one class and clear my head a little bit, but overall, the fog is in the mind.

i know my thoughts on the matter are controversial but i really do believe that not everyone needs to go to college. i understand the need for an educated society, however, that presumes that only form of education is found at a university or college system. to be quite honest, there are other places to learn.
i find it sad that our society "only" values people who hold a degree, and at that, a degree in certain fields. i don't think education should necessarily hold a purpose or a degree should be utilitarian. learning can be done for learning's sake. why not?
so when i see articles like this one on cnn today, i am very pleased with it. i find it valuable for students to have "other" experiences. those experiences of traveling, volunteering, working, etc. are invaluable tools to a world view and a perspective that cannot be learned at a university, or for that matter, valued appropriately by the student with no experience.
i find students today frequently shuffled into college when they aren't ready. they only sigh-up because they are told this is what they have to do. for four, five, six years, they are miserable, have no goal, no perspective, no idea why they are there nor what they should be getting from the experience. this is tragic to me. i so wish someone, somewhere, ANYONE, (thank you princeton) would say, take a year, travel, volunteer somewhere, teach english, do mission work (ugh!), get a job, gain some perspective before agreeing to do something that you don't even understand why you are doing it in the first place.
i would make an awesome high school counselor. parents would have me fired!

i am curious about something. whenever i watch tv, and tv shows bring up the fantasy world of "three", shows use the same term... three-way. now, my thing is this, i have always used and heard the term threesome. three-way was a completely new term for me and one i had only ever heard on tv.
so i came up with the theory that tv deems threesome as bad and three-way is less offensive. correct me if you disagree and/or use a different term all together.
this evening at dinner with my mother, i heard her use the term three-way. laugh. and i did just that, i laughed not because i was uncomfortable... no, my mother is the one who will offer spermicide... no, i laughed because she picked it up on tv. parents these days... they say the darnedest things!

one of the things i love is a good zombie thriller. one of the other things i love is a good comic book. and my third love is the internet. imagine what would happen if you joined all three of them into one thing... yep... you guessed it... JOYGASM.
i present to you: kristy versus the zombie army!

there are several ways to get a boost or a perk in your day. there have been all sorts of articles by psychologists who talk about this on cnn and various other news sites. i think the psychologists are silly spending their hard earned time on something that is truly evident. like DUH!
so here... take a hit. nothing will make you feel all good and bubbly inside like looking at that. i dare you. come on. you know it will make you feel better. do it. all your friends do.

now i know that i am seriously biased since i am a french teacher. but seriously, how can i not find these kids charming and adorable? huh? how? also, the girl in the green dress is totally amélie's virgin-birth love child. seriously. and i am not saying this just because white people like multilingual children... this is cute.

so it is spring break. and i must say, that even though the snow is melting, it just isn't enough. i feel sorry for the wee daffodils breaking through the ground, huddled together, to keep warm in the snow. where is my spring? it is march already, and normally, yes we have cold days, but not fricken winter!
so during this spring break, i have been watching the gilmore girls... i am almost through season four and will soon be on to season 5. yeah. then 6, then 7. because i am obsessed. i miss this show more than anything. it was so witty and the jokes are still really good. they don't make them like that anymore.

a friend recently found a website and knew immediately that i would fall in love with it and want to marry it and have its babies. i read one article and am already pregnant.
stuff that white people like has got to be one of the funniest things on the web right now. maybe it is because i am a total narcissist and most of the articles apply to me in some way, shape or form, or maybe because it is clever.

so if you read this blog, then you know who i am supporting. obama. like, duh. so there are two sides of me with this years campaign. there is the part of me that desperately wants her to lose so i can hear him give awesome speeches and not have to listen to the two of them debate anymore. then, there is the other part...
i want to actually get to vote i may during the primaries. i hate to say this or feel this way, but a primary in may, ky does not count for much. it is usually long decided... so sad... but i really do want him to be my candidate. and i love these videos.
