apparently, taking a virginity pledge does not stop pre-marital sex. in fact, those kids are just as sexually active as the ones who didn't take the pledge:
from the newsdesk of webmd
the thing that shocks me about this study is that 82% of the pledgers denied taking the pledge five years later! in addition, the use of contraceptives among the pledgers is quite shocking.
you know, i believe whole heartedly in abstinence education. abstinence is the only way to prevent 100% anything from happening, however, i do believe in informing kids of their options out there. condoms, pills, diaphragms, sponges, spermicides, implants, etc. it is up to each kid to decide what is right for them on a moral, ethical, emotional, personal level. but if they are informed, maybe they'll make the best "healthy" choice for themselves.

the way the sun glitters through spring leaves on trees. bubbles. tarte au citron. a shot of espresso. bookstores. shoe stores. aha moments. watching children color. maple snuggling with me in the morning. a yummy warm dinner made for me. holding hands. halloween. new fabric ready to be pieced and quilted. looking at photos showing me all the adventures we have had. photos of puppies. a warm cup of tea on a sunday morning while sitting in my pj's watching all the shows on tv. going through dvds of tv series. the smell of ink in a newly printed book. comics. reading the ads from a newspaper. shopping with my own bags and not using plastic ones. my iphone.
who knew... i can still actually post something. amazing! wow! post of the century...
i will have stuff to post here soon. just need to make it through finals week, finish grading everything, and then put the semester behind me.
