what most of us assumed... i think
apparently, taking a virginity pledge does not stop pre-marital sex. in fact, those kids are just as sexually active as the ones who didn't take the pledge:
from the newsdesk of webmd
the thing that shocks me about this study is that 82% of the pledgers denied taking the pledge five years later! in addition, the use of contraceptives among the pledgers is quite shocking.
you know, i believe whole heartedly in abstinence education. abstinence is the only way to prevent 100% anything from happening, however, i do believe in informing kids of their options out there. condoms, pills, diaphragms, sponges, spermicides, implants, etc. it is up to each kid to decide what is right for them on a moral, ethical, emotional, personal level. but if they are informed, maybe they'll make the best "healthy" choice for themselves.
