i am afraid to say that i have the nasty habit of personifying my ipod.  this of course, embarrassed the hell out of thomas while we were purchasing my brand spanking new ipod!!!

i recycled my old one.  it is now off to a farm where it will frolic with other ipods.  it will play music, run up and down beautiful green pastures, have all the latest downloads and of course, get to interface with other ipods.

i had to take a moment at the passing of my baby.

my new ipod is an itouch.  i went trendy, and well, i do not regret it at all.  now, i can surf the web on it and wifi in to itunes and download music directly.  loves it.  and watch tv and everything.  now i need a splitter for the plane so it can be shared.

oh the dilemma!

i have a bit of a dilemma.  my ipod is dead.  i have mentioned this already, and i am sure, oh so sure you don't care about my dead ipod.

but maybe you can help.  i am getting a new one at the fancy apple store this weekend and i don't know which one to get.

you see, the nano is cute and little and light.  it comes in all sorts of different colors.  it is marketing genius and did i mention it is so cute and little and comes in many colors?

then there is the regular ipod.  but it only comes in black or white and i just don't feel that it gives me the "pretty" factor the nano gives me even though it gives me the "size matters" factor.

and finally, there is the itouch.  now, this one gets me points because it is all fancy and new.  it is pretty and also a marketing dream, but with its size, it doesn't give me the same quantity as the regular ipod.

so the dilemma is which ipod do i want?

whypod? why?

Img_2923age: 4 years old

symptoms: weakness, fatigue, memory problems, irritability, fainting, depression

diagnosis: fatal heart disease

yes.  it is only a matter of time.  my ipod is dying.  slowly.  sometimes, it has a burst of energy that lasts thirty minutes.  and then.  well, it fades and faints.

sometimes it remembers the music.  and then.  well.  sometimes it just can't tell you anything.  my ipod has a fatal heart disease.  it is dying.

i am trying to make it as comfortable as possible.  lots of plug time.  a nice snug sock.  (orange).  i stimulate it with new songs with fancy lyrics.  but it is a matter of time.

utter joy

aside from a new pair of shoes, i have to admit that utter joy is seeing that guy breakout into full lip-sync of bryan adams "i will be right here waiting for you."  dude totally owned it.

walking in today, i experienced what can only be called the ipod phenomenon.  i love my ipod, a lot.  i can't help but love that little silver magical box that brings music into my life on my 2 mile walk to the office.  it is like a magical pony to me.

but this is not the phenomenon because there have been walkmans and such for a while now.  no.  the phenomenon is the moment you forget the music is on, and it sounds like the music is in your head, emanating from your head and that all the world can hear the song you hear too.

it happened to me today.  i was passing someone on the street... i thought to myself, i wonder if he is enjoying this song as much as i am.  and then it occurred to me, he can't hear my song, there is no ipod cloud over my head... following me and sharing my music with the world.  sucks to be you, my ipod rocks.

thomas: you know what i just realized the other day?

me:  what?

thomas:  what the new pink song is about.

me: lmao.

thomas:  what?  i don't listen to song lyrics.

me:  lmao. the title didn't give it away?  goes back to lmao.

thomas: well...

UPDATED AT 4:17pm

this is where thomas proves me wrong:

thomas: maybe after the movie, we can go home and have our own pirate adventure.... arrrgggh!

me:  lmao.

that kelly clarkson is the definition of badonkadonk.  man her booty is large and in charge.  and she looks bored about having to be on american idol.

you died. again!

dear you know who,

you know that we love living near you in the neighborhood.  we have been friends ever since you moved to this sweet little town, way back when.  we love having dinner with you and your family.  we love joking with you.  we love your kids.  but i am writing to you to ask you to please stop cursing me.

you see, when you see me leave the house, you pull over in your car to chat for a moment and then ask me if i would like a ride.  which we both know the answer is no.  you then pull away.  and for whatever reason, you take the energy and power that is in my ipod with you.  you, sir, kill my ipod each and every time you pull over.

in conclusion, to resolve the problem, i suggest that you just keep on driving and let me have my music.  i don't want to think my thoughts in the morning.  i want to sing.  i want to dance.  i want to have a party in my head.  why must you kill my ipod?  why?  oh, why?

sincerely,

jeorg

languages. foreign.

so for the past two days i've been at a local conference.  this evening was a blast as it always is since there was the end of conference soirée that has plenty of vino, food and one really nasty cheese that none of us liked.

but anyway, that isn't my point.  i have been blogging about music lately.  or at least, i have in my head.  to me, music is a foreign language that people speak and it is one that i am not as familiar with.  by blog hopping, i recently discovered salvadore and his ability to graph music.  he is a fu©king genius.  the only thing is, you have to guess at the song, and i am a bit of suckage at this game because he seriously has a wide variety of songs that he graphs.  enjoy.

the manpod

| | Comments (1)

i want you to know that i married a veritable manpod.  he rivals the ipod on many levels in that he sings me songs, however, only when the song is playing in the background.

now the thing about my manpod is that he has a certain kind of music stored in him.  and this is not the kind of music any husband would be proud of, unless, you were a husband born and raised in europe, germany in particular.  germans love bad music.  they love techno.  they love one-hit wonders.  they love eurotrash.  and thomas is no exception.

the other day, he put it on one of those tv channels that plays music while we cooked dinner and did the dishes.  during this time, thomas was able to identify all the 80s singers and songs.  now i am not talking u2 here.  i am not talking michael jackson or madonna.  nothing that easy.  i am talking about the slow song, one-hit wonder, can sing along to the lyrics of the guy who had a hit for one day back in 86 that people know they've heard, but don't remember anything about it song.  and.  and.  and, he can. sing. along.

i should have known what i was getting into when i found out his first concert was roxette.
